Piano Lessons in Phinney Ridge, Seattle
Phinney Ridge has a strong community arts tradition, and it's a great place to start learning piano. I'm Eric Wittenmyer, and I offer private, in-home piano lessons for kids and adults across Phinney Ridge, from the neighborhood around Woodland Park Zoo up and down Phinney Avenue and over toward Greenwood.
Who lessons are for
Lessons on Phinney Ridge are open to kids just learning where middle C is, teens working toward more challenging repertoire, and adults finally making time for the instrument they've always wanted to play. Beginners are always welcome.
How I teach
I want every student to discover the music they already hold inside. In practice, that means:
Introducing one new idea at a time and practicing it together during the lesson
Building technique and theory step by step so skills last
Leaving every lesson with a simple, specific practice plan
Choosing music the student is excited to play
Experience
Music has been part of my life since my first piano lessons as a kid. Since then I've sung in school, community and college choirs, played in handbell and chime ensembles, performed in musical theater, studied Music Education at Western Washington University and taught choir part-time at a public school for three years. Today I sing with the Seattle Men's Chorus and teach private piano across North Seattle.
